During the week, 6-14 July, Sydney will witness the largest gathering of sacred music practitioners and enthusiasts ever assembled in Australia & NZ. The program, the various streams available, the accommodation, the venues, the leaders, the opportunities are all genuinely world-class. Sydney inSpires is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all involved in church music in the Souther Hemisphere.
Choir members, band members, leaders, clergy, organists, students, conductors and teachers – whether expert or beginner, amateur or professional – Sydney inSpires is for you! A multi-streamed approach throughout the week centred around the University of Sydney and St Andrew’s Cathedral School will culminate in two exciting events in the City’s premiere venue – Sydney Town Hall.
All participants will sing and play in the ‘Prom Praise’ concert with the Gospel Orchestra of Sydney and Festival Choir, conducted by Professor Noel Tredinnick CBE, with Paris’ Thomas Ospital on the famous Sydney Town Hall Grand Organ. All participants also sing in the performance of Bach’s immortal ‘St Matthew Passion’ – commonly regarded as the greatest piece of Sacred Music ever composed. Professional Soloists and orchestra will be selected from the finest players of the Sydney Orchestras, the National Youth Choir of Australia will be singing the inner choruses and the work will be conducted by Dr David Hill, director of London’s Bach Choir and Yale’s Sacred Schola Cantorum.
Throughout the week lecture-demonstrations, services, seminars, recitals, flash choirs, workshops, and concerts will be held at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney Town Hall, St James King St, St Mary’s Cathedral, St Andrew’s Cathedral School and Sydney University.
Come and sing Evensong with King’s College Cambridge’s Stephen Cleobury, get professional teacher’s accreditation from conducting masterclasses with the world’s finest teachers, learn the organ from scratch, or take it to diploma level.
A separate Children’s Choir, maximum of 50 places for under 14s, will be run by acknowledged experts from Australia and overseas. Generous Scholarship funds are available to deserving recipients.

Incorporating the 2019 Sydney Organ Academy, and using the extraordinary range of Sydney’s organs (Town Hall, Opera House, Cathedrals, etc.), the course will involve individual lessons every day, basic technique, advanced academy, learn to improvise, advanced improvisation, the Liturgical Organist, Hymn-playing, Pedal surgery, Organist-Pianist conversion, Recitals, Art of Accompaniment, seminars & Masterclasses

All fees must be paid when you register. If you cancel prior to 31 March 2019 we will refund all fees paid less $100. If you cancel after that date and until 6 June 2019, we will refund 50% of all fees paid. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after 6 June. The best alternative to cancellation would be to transfer your registration to someone else. St Paul’s College Accommodation may be cancelled by 3 July 2019, without penalty.
If you are only able to attend Sydney inSpires for one or a few days, we will be very happy to see you. If you would like us to frame a special package for those days you can come, we are happy to do so.
